Knowing How To Play Roulette

If you do not know how to play roulette you are missing out on a fun and exciting casino game where players can make huge sums of up to 35 times their original stake. It is one of the main games that can be found at a casino party and people love the frenzied action and opportunity to run up a small stake into large sum. It is a versatile game that lets you gamble it up and go for the big money or hang back and to play it safe. Many people who have not experienced roulette before can be intimidated by the complicated looking board, but once you know what the different parts of the board mean you will be playing roulette like a Vegas high roller in no time.

The roulette board is split up into various parts which relate to where the ball stops when the wheel is spun. If the ball stops on your selection you have won. The amount that you win is dictated by the chance that your selection has of winning. So if you pick a single number, for example 15, you can win a lot more than if you chose a section of numbers, such as all the even numbers. Taking a bigger risk will gain a larger reward, and if you play more conservatively you can win a smaller amount, but you are more likely to pick a winner. If you do win then you also get your stake back, and if you lose then you will lose your stake.

The board is split into 2 main sections, the inside board and the outside board. The inside comprises of the individual numbers 1 to 36 and includes zero and double zero. The outside board is made up of the various sections of the wheel that you can bet on, which includes odd or even numbers, red or black, the low half (1 to 18) or high half (19 to 36), the dozens (1 to 12, 13 to 24, 25 to 36), and the 3 columns.

To place a bet you simply put your chip (or chips) on the selection you think the ball will land on when the wheel is spun. So for example, you might think that the ball will land on number 12, so you just put your chip on that number. If 12 comes up then you get back 35 times your stake. So for a $10 bet you would win $350. You can also split an inside bet across numbers that are in contact with each other. For example, if you place a chip between the numbers 8 and 9 then you will win if either of those numbers comes up. This split bet pays out 17 to 1 ($170 for a $10 bet). You can also select a line of 3 numbers and win 11 to 1 ($110 for a $10 bet). If you bet on the outside of the board you are more likely to win, but you will not get back as much. You can select odd or even, red or black, high or low, and you will double your money if you win. So a $10 would win $10 and you get your stake back. If you bet on one of the dozens or on a column then you will get back twice your money. So a $10 bet will win $20.

As you can see you have lots of betting options and roulette is a great game for everyone, whether they want to take a risky gamble or prefer to play it safe. Now you know how to play roulette you can put this knowledge to work at your next casino party and be the envy of your friends when you win big. Have fun and good luck.
